Summer
Knights Newsletter Volume 1, October
2000
Greetings to all Goode Knights, Squires, Friends and Patrons of Summer Knights. It has been many weeks since last we met as Summer Knights, but rest assured we have continued our work and dedication to the program and to Chivalry in Action! This is the first installment of the 2000-2001 Summer Knights Newsletter. This newsletter is intended to keep those interested in the program aware of our current work as Chivalrous Knights. In our newsletters we address Summer Knights Outings and Happenings, Corporate Sponsorship progress, Renaissance Faires, Open Training dates, news pertaining to Knights that have been through the program, the Master Knights and their efforts to achieve even higher degrees of expertise, and Lord Magnus and Lady Branwyns continued efforts to make Summer Knights THEE course of Knighthood and THEE place where young knights can find Chivalry in Action! If you have received this newsletter, please feel free to forward or distribute it to any and all who may have an interest. In addition, anyone can come to the Summer Knights web site and sign up for the mailing list in but a quick click of the mouse! First and foremost, The Summer Knights Web Site is FINISHED! Thanks to the magnificent efforts of Sir Gregorius, the Tech Knight, all of the pictures of the year 2000 Summer Knights program have been scanned, color corrected and uploaded to the S.K. web site! Come check out the new page and see what the Knights did last summer: www.summerknights.com
For the first time ever, Summer Knights has been accepting corporate sponsorship from businesses that want to help spread the ideas of Chivalry in Action! Among our latest sponsors are: Unigraphics,
Inc. Orazal
and Associates World
Triumph Medical
Hardsoft
Solutions, Inc. Hi-Power
Diesel Pablo ZamoraAnd Phil Sigel Each
of our sponsors has made generous contributions to support Knighthood
and Chivalry in a world that is lacking both.
Our Corporate Sponsors help us continue our work in spreading the
word of Chivalry and help us offer scholarships and discounts to
incoming knights. If you,
or someone you know, would like to know more about sponsoring a knight
and lending financial support in creating chivalrous leaders for the
future, please contact us at admin@summerknights.com
or call at 305-609-6048 for information on how they can help us build
knights! Join our noble
band of Knights and add your name to our shield of honour!
One of the Master Knights (the Summer Knights Staff) have added or changed their personas. Lord Habish the Scotsman is now Lord Calum McLachlenn! Have no fear, he is still the Chivalrous Scotsman with the sword of steel and heart of gold. He has simply done his research and has chosen to change his name. We have added two new knights to the Master Knights for 2001: Sir
Daniel Bravo and Sir Richard Cifuentes!
Some of you may have met Sir Daniel, he came for a couple of days in session two to help with the armoury. His knowledge and expertise were evident in his days with us this summer and he was eager to accept our invitation to join our noble band! Sir Richard has been a knight in the program for two years and has excelled in both his skill in knightly arts and (most importantly) his understanding of Chivalry. Sir Richard won the Flower of Chivalry Award for the second session of 2000 and indeed impressed us enough to ask him to come aboard as well. We have already
had two meetings with the new and improved Master Knights (including one
Knights Combat training seminar) and so far we believe the new group
of Masters is the best we have ever had!
The Summer Knights have been asked to demonstrate their knightly arts at some renaissance festivals this year! The first one is new this year: the Redlands Renaissance Festival at Fruit and Spice Park. The dates for this faire are January 19, 20 and 21 of 2001. Come join us at the faire! For more information, check out their web site or email us closer to the date for last minute updates. We will send out new information as it becomes available. In addition, we may also be at the Italian Renaissance Faire at Vizcaya in March 2001 but this has not been confirmed yet. As a side note,
if anyone has any old furniture (tables or chairs) or items that would
fit in a medieval or renaissance setting and would like to donate them
to Summer Knights, please let us know ASAP; preparing for the faire is a
lengthy and COSTLY endeavor, every little bit helps!
Knights
