informing the populace of deeds both great and small and Knightly-News

As usual, we extend an invitation to all whom are interested in our

News of the Knights Summer
Knights Participation in The Martial Arts Experience a Great Success As you may know, The Summer Knights recently participated in The Martial Arts Experience, a demonstration for underprivileged children, hosted by the Metro-Dade Police Department. The Eastern martial arts, as usual, were well represented. However, this year, thanks to Summer Knights, the Western martial arts were represented, and with much fanfare! The Master Knights stole the show with their presentations of full-contact fighting with both sword & shield and rapier & dagger. Demonstrations of armouring were on hand and the children, parents, eastern masters and police were very impressed with the chain-maile pieces on display. While the event was for the benefit of underprivileged, inner-city children, Lord Magnus, Lady Branwyn and the Master Knights found the experience to be most gratifying. We wish to extend our most sincere thanks to the Metro-Dade Police for their incredible hospitality. We look forward to next years event, should we be fortunate enough to receive an invitation, and encourage everyone to attend. A rousing huzzah to Jason Bueno, who did a masterful job as official photographer. We invite you to peruse the event for yourself at The Martial Arts Experience section of the web site. The Summer Knights to have a Booth at the Belen Tombola! For the first time ever, in this glorious year of 2001, The Summer Knights will have their own booth at the Belen Tombola Festival (500 SW 127 Avenue, Miami, Florida) to be held on March 3rd and 4th. In addition to the archery booth that we are sponsoring, we will also display our skills in armouring, archery, heraldry and both Medieval and Renaissance sword fighting! As is our custom, we will spread the word of Chivalry to all in attendance. Come try your hand at archery and maybe even win a prize! Summer
Knights to Demonstrate their Knightly Arts at The Italian Renaissance
Festival
The Summer Knights will be at the Italian Renaissance Faire, March 15-18, 2001, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the beautiful setting of Vizcaya in Coconut Grove, Florida. Make sure you come out and cheer a loud Huzzah for the Summer Knights! See the S.K. web page on Renaissance Faires or check the link below for more information. The Italian Renaissance Festival at Vizcaya The Summer Knights Corporate Round Table: Corporate
Sponsorship helps keep the cost of our program lower and allows us to
offer more for less money; the cost of the program has been reduced
$53 from last year as a result of projected Corporate
Sponsorship! And so,
we raise a Call-to-Arms for all Noble
Businesses out there to realize the positive potential of
sponsoring a Knight and open their checkbooks for the cause of Chivalry!
Add your name to our Shield of Honour, join the Summer Knights
Corporate Round Table and witness the power of Chivalry.
Corporate Sponsors interested in contributing to our Noble cause
can contact us via email
or telephone (305-609-6048) and well demonstrate how
powerful a partnership with Chivalry can be!

Chronicles
of CHIVALRY: The Chronicles
Chivalry is an ongoing series of tips,
tricks-of-the-trade, insight and words of wisdom from the Master Knights,
Lord Magnus and Lady Branwyn. This
month, to inaugurate the newly formed Chronicles of Chivalry, we focus on
the lessons brought to us from Lord Eric the Immaculate.
His wisdom and understanding of Chivalry, Archery and Swordsmanship
are demonstrated in the following brief, but insightful comments.
Chivalry
as defined by Master Knight, Lord Eric the Immaculate. The definition of
chivalry from the Websters Dictionary is COURTESY. To
me, chivalry is just that, courtesy. There is nothing better than people
being courteous to one another. It is the way I was brought up, and the
way I will bring up my children. So my definition of chivalry is courtesy.
Lord
Eric the Immaculates Fighting Tips:
1.
Always remember to breath. When fighting, you can sometimes forget. 2.
No matter how big or small your opponent is, NEVER underestimate
them! 3.
Do not get cocky if you are winning; do not get frustrated if you are
losing. 4.
Focus and concentrate at all times. 5.
Practice makes perfect. 6.
Fight safely and well-armoured. 7.Have
Fun. Lord
Erics Archery Tips: 1.
Hold the string with one finger above the arrow, and two below the arrow. 2.
When ready to shoot, draw the bowstring to your cheek and anchor firmly. 3.
Aim at the target carefully; tilt (or cant) the bow a little. 4.
Have your back foot (your right if your right-handed) half-a-step forward 5.
Never take your eyes off the target until after your arrow has hit the
target. 6.
Focus and concentrate. 7.
Have Fun.
